Not only did Obama get caught up in a corner when Republicans beat him on the temporary 2011 budget fight… he’s also now on the ropes with his own base.

Currently, just 37% of liberals Strongly Approve of the president’s performance. That’s down from 63% a year ago, 57% at the beginning of 2011, and 52% a week ago. Some liberal commentators have expressed disappointment with the president over the extension of the Bush tax cuts, the military action in Libya, and, most recently, the budget deal to avert a partial shutdown of the federal government. While liberal enthusiasm may be declining, 57% of voters believe the president is more liberal than they are.

That’s what his own core base thinks. It gets MUCH worse when we look at

UPDATE: Someone on Twitter pointed out that we are, as a movement, moving forward. I’m not suggesting we aren’t.

What I AM suggesting is that our enemies are moving forward at a much quicker pace. If they reach their end goal then we still lose, regardless of us having forward movement.

Someone needs to say this. I’ll be the one to do it, even if it isn’t the popular thing to do.

The tea party movement as a whole doesn’t currently have the unified guts to take on the union/progressive/leftist/government/Obama/Soros machine that opposes us. At least, not at the level our political enemies are fighting at.

I’ve been involved in a few discussions over the past few days where tea party organizers from various states expressed frustration over a lack of action on very, VERY important fights happening locally.

As I explained in my previous post, and as Ann Coulter makes clear in her column today, we’re celebrating the gain of an inch when our opponents are after a mile.

With all due respect to my friends in Congress and in politics, the “gains” Republicans are making are

Note: I’m NOT suggesting social security is a “handout,” the article I linked to did. For those of you upset about that… please see my updated post here.

This spells disaster in a lot of ways.

Government payouts—including Social Security, Medicare and unemployment insurance—make up more than a third of total wages and salaries of the U.S. population, a record figure that will only increase if action isn’t taken before the majority of Baby Boomers enter retirement.

One of the biggest, however, is that fact that the parasite is soon to outweigh the host.

Back in February of 2009, during the final few days of planning for the original “Nationwide Chicago Tea Party” to take place on February 27th, I wrote a piece called “The Impossible Argument.”

I think it now rings even more true than the day I

Today is Friday, February 25th, 2011. This means that two years ago today Juliana Johnson and I put out this press release announcing the “Chicago Tea Party” that would take place on February 27th, 2009.

I write extensively about what this week entailed in my upcoming book about the movement (announcement coming soon) but wanted to touch briefly on it here.

Often times the February 27th “Nationwide Chicago Tea Party” is overlooked. The April 15th “Tax Day Tea Party,” which we planned some six weeks after, was much bigger and

Thank you, Fred Levenhagen!

On February 23, 2011, in Politics, by Eric Odom

I’ve been saying this for days, but now I’m getting very specific emails confirming it.

Wisconsin teachers protesting Governor Walker’s budget bill aren’t doing themselves any favors with the electorate at large.

The following came via email this morning. It’s a copy of an email that was sent to Fred Levenhagen, the leftist teacher who lied to get out of work and then claimed Fox News lies, from one of my readers.

Fred,

I want to thank you and offer my support as you express your feelings. You and others have helped beyond anything you can imagine in showing us what the problems are in education. Millions of people are looking at your selfish childlike behavior and seeing that we are correct to reign in on the unions. The fact that a man of your maturity and intelligence is guiding our youth is saying it all. Unions protect the employee…not the children.

Thanks again, keep up our good work.

Heritage Foundation’s Rob Bluey sent this over to me yesterday. Follow Rob Bluey on Twitter here.

For those who may remember, Rob Bluey was a part of the “DontGo Movement” that forced an expiration of the offshore drilling ban back in 2008. This was long before the modern day tea party movement, yet we still rallied more than 40,000 activists online to oppose the renewal of the band.

The efforts of Rob Bluey and so many others during the recess of 2008 helped bring about relief at the gas pump and help set up the groundwork for what would eventually become the modern tea party movement some six months later.

Heritage Foundation is a SUPERB ally in the movement. Please watch the video and pass it around to everyone you know.

In defense of the Tea Party Express

On July 19, 2010, in Politics, by Eric Odom

This morning I find myself in an interesting situation. I’m constantly asked to take positions on internal “disagreements” within the Tea Party Movement, and I generally ignore them or refuse to comment.

In my experience, my comments only add fuel to the fire and I believe there are more fruitful ways to spend my time.

In the recent flap over Mark Williams and his stupid comments, however, I think the Tea Party Express is getting an unfair shake. And worse, it’s coming from a group who claims to desire unity within the movement, yet is feeding corporate media red meat over its “decision” to “expel” the Tea Party Express from its ranks.

First, and for the record, I personally reject the content of Mark Williams’ post.

That said, I would to like to toss in a couple of points I find interesting about this story.
