Any Republican with a half decent head on the shoulders and an understanding of a) the party platform, and b) the U.S. Constitution, should be strongly opposing union power grabs and abuse of taxpayer dollars.
As can be seen in Wisconsin right now, the current fight between taxpayers and unions draws a clear contrast between two vastly different views.
Yet somehow many GOP members of Congress are still pandering to unions and ignoring the message sent to Washington last November.
Take the Guinta Amendment, for example. The amendment states that no funds appropriated by the continuing resolution “may be used to enter into, after the date of enactment of (the continuing resolution), a government contract that requires a project labor agreement.”
In other words, the amendment would block laws that require union powered taxpayer funded contracts.
No brainer, right? I mean, this is a huge part of the fight for us! Every Republican should have STRONGLY supported this amendment and they should have shouted their support from the mountain tops.
In typical GOP fashion, the amendment FAILED on a 210-210 vote.
The following Republicans voted NO.
26 Republicans voted no:
Alexander (LA)
Diaz Balart (FL)
Emerson (MO)
Hultgren (IL)

Paul Ryan screwed up. He defected and voted with the unions and Dems on this one. This amendment was about increasing competition and limiting crony contracting, which would have reduced federal construction costs. He is supposed to be the conservative budget hawk of the GOP? Seriously?
I lost a lot of respect for him with this vote.
I’m also surprised at Alexander, Emerson, Hultgren, Lance, Turner, Walsh and Whitfield.
We vote them out as soon as we can!!!!
